- Office Hours and Appointment Information
Monday through Friday
8:30 AM until 4:30 PM
Except for emergencies, office visits are by appointment. We believe in the value of your time; therefore, our receptionist may ask the nature of your first visit. This is to enable her to schedule the appropriate amount of time for your visit. Every effort will be made to honor your appointment time. However, there are often emergency situations beyond our control that may cause unforseen delays. In the event an emergency arises, you will be notified as soon as possible so other arrangements may be made.
If you find you cannot keep your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment and use the original time for other patients.

- Fee Policy
Our prime concern is your medical care. This care is our reason for existence and comes before anything else. Therefore, no one should hesitate to seek medical attention on the basis of financial condition. However, you should understand that we must rely on timely payment for services rendered in order to meet ongoing operating expenses.
After initial consultation, there is no fee required for additional consultations concerning the same surgical subject, within a reasonable time. A minimum of 2 visits are required prior to image altering surgery (cosmetic surgery, major body surgery). As many visits as necessary will be undertaken for the patient to understand the risks, complications, procedures, limitations and alternatives to surgical procedures.
We realize that personal circumstances change, often unpredictably. But problems, if known and understood, can be solved. If necessary, we will establish a reasonable and mutually agreeable monthly payment plan. The responsibility for initiating such a plan must rest with you. If you have any questions regarding fees, please discuss them with us; these discussions will be treated as privileged and confidential.
If your surgery is for cosmetic reasons only, advance payment is required and should be received in our office prior to your surgery date.
Payment for routine office services and services for an acute or emergency naturally is encouraged at the time of the visit. However, it may not be required if the need to pay at the time would deter seeking prompt medical care. Payments for this care can often be deferred or a monthly schedule set up. Patients with an unpaid balance in excess of 90 days without satisfactory explanation or alternate arrangements, will be notified and collection agency assistance will be sought. This drastic step can be avoided by discussing the account with us as soon as possible.

Insurance payments made directly to Northington Clinic will be credited to your account or refunded to you, if the account is paid in full. Payment by your insurance company may take as long as three months. Please direct any questions and/or complaints regarding coverage to your insurance carrier. There is a fee for completing payment-to-credit disability forms.
Please remember that insurance is considered a method of reimbursing the patient for fees paid to the doctor and is not a substitute for payment. Some companies pay fixed allowance for certain procedures and others pay a percentage of the charge. Insurance companies reimburse what they set as a "reasonable and customary" fee for services; this is not always the same as our fee. It is your responsibility to pay any deductible amount, co-insurance or any other balance not paid for by your insurance company.
We participate with Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield PMD as well as various other insurance carriers.

- On-site Surgical Facility
A Quality Environment for Patient Care
All facilities accredited by the American Associates for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) are designed and built to provide the best possible location for surgery and patient care. AAAASF accredited plastic surgery facilities are rigorously inspected and evaluated. A set of exacting standards must be met which assure the patient of a commitment to safety and efficiency of the facility of equipment.
An AAAASF accredited facility must be in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes--fire safety, sanitation, and building--for the protection of the patient and medical personnel. The facility must also adhere to federal laws and regulations affecting its operation, such as OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards, Hazardous Waste Standards, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A Certificate of Accreditation provides evidence that the facility meets high standards for patient safety in the outpatient surgical environment.
A Model Of Excellence In Surgical Care
In 1980, the AAAASF established a model accreditation program to provide assurance to the patient of excellence in surgical care. Since then, this facility accreditation process has been endorsed by 90 percent of the nation's health insurance carriers and by a number of state health agencies. It has been cited repeatedly as the model program for others to follow.
Plastic Surgery Performed By Trained And Skilled Surgeons
Surgery in an AAAASF accredited facility can only be performed by qualified plastic surgeons who are eligible to perform plastic surgical procedures in an accredited hospital. Such surgeons must also be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and comply with the Code of Ethics of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
The Assistance of Certified Personnel
While all surgery in an AAAASF accredited facility is performed by a licensed and certified plastic surgeon, the assisting personnel are also highly trained and skilled.
- General anesthesia is provided by a board-certified anesthesiologist or a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
- Other personnel assisting in the surgery or caring for the patient in the recovery room include specially trained surgical technicians, registered nurses, and/or licensed practical nurses.
Together the staff members comprise a team that operates the facility smoothly and efficiently--before, during, and after your surgery.
A Facility Designed Especially For Plastic Surgery
AAAASF facilities are state-of-the-art settings designed for the exclusive use of plastic surgeons. As a result, other departments required in a hospital center, such as pathology, radiology, administrative offices, and large reception or waiting areas, are unnecessary. The resulting cost savings are passed along to you, the patient.
At the same time, an AAAASF accredited ambulatory plastic surgery facility does meet, and often exceeds, the same standards for safety and patient care as those required in a hospital outpatient surgery unit. An AAAASF accredited facility provides you with safe, quality care in an environment specifically designed to accommodate your plastic surgical needs.
State-Of-The-Art Equipment And Technology
Plastic surgery procedures require the most advanced instruments and monitoring devices. In an AAAASF accredited facility, procedures are performed in an ultra-modern operating suite with all the equipment necessary to ensure the safest possible operating conditions. This advanced technology makes an AAAASF accredited facility a highly desirable alternative to in-hospital care.
Substantial Cost Savings
Recent studies have shown that costs to a patient in a single-specialty facility, such as an accredited plastic surgery facility, are only one-third to one-half those charged by a hospital for the same procedure. And because the patient is not hospitalized, there are additional significant savings over hospital in-patient care.
Patient's Bill Of Rights
The selection of an AAAASF accredited facility provides you wit skilled and experienced plastic surgical care in the environment of a modern and specially-designed plastic surgical facility. In addition you will enjoy the staff and facility's commitment to the AAAASF "Patient's Bill Of Rights," a twelve-point document that assures all patients the courtesy and respect they deserve as part of their medical treatment.
The Association For Accreditation Of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. has approved more than 400 centers for a full three-year accreditation. The AAAASF not only sponsors and supports its current accreditation program, it also strives for the highest standards of excellence for its accredited facilities by regularly revising and updating its requirements for the quality and safety of patient care.
